Life Update in Sketches
Hello there! I haven’t been updating this blog as much as I would want to so here’s a collection of sketches I did since the start of the year.
Here are some of the sketches I did at the office while Pinterest-ing. Pinterest is a really good website for inspirations or pegs. Too many beautiful things over at that site. <3
The first sketch on my brand new Fashionary (finally gave in and got myself one).
Practicing with colored pencils again. It’s been around two years since I last used one. I wasn’t satisfied with this one so I never finished it. :P
Here’s a little something I made after attending a brush calligraphy workshop two weeks ago. I learned a lot about how pressure and control of the brush makes so much interesting strokes. Clearly, I need more practice with my brushwork! :D
I’m usually more active on Instagram and I post a lot of WIPs and sketches over there so follow me at: http://instagram.com/maweeborrs :)
“You can’t rely on how you look to sustain you. What actually sustains us, what is fundamentally beautiful, is compassion, for yourself and for those around you. That kind of beauty inflames the heart and enchants the soul…”
Ugh i love her. She always seems to say the most inspiring words - her acceptance speech to the Oscars and this video, which I think every girl should watch:
It’s been a long time since I last drew something for myself. Art block is the worst. :(
I was at the pet store the other day and had a sudden urge to paint some parrot fishes which I saw that time. Experimented a little bit for this particular illustration. What do you think? :D
I don’t think i’ll ever get sick of pastel colors, especially shades of pink. I’m one of those girls who grew up having pink as my favorite color. When i was kid, about eighty percent of my toys were pink. I had this pink pillow I’d bring everywhere - I wouldn’t let my mom wash it because I want it with me all the time. Crazy. Yeah, so the point is, I was (still am) nuts for this particular color. I always thought I’d outgrow my liking for it (like most girls i know), but I never did. Just look at my other illustrations lol.
So here’s an illustration expressing (subconsciously, wasn’t even planning on making it mostly pink) my fondness for this color.
(I can’t believe I wrote a long post about a color. Sorry guys, i’m trying to write more than just posting my illustrations on my blog. Not really good with words and I can guarantee a lot of grammatical errors in my future posts, but i will try. :) )
Side note: I just finished this book called Gone Girl and I loved it! What a twisted plot. I can’t wait for the movie!
